Results from dermarolling

This is the before and after of dermarolling with the minoxidil solution. The top picture is in August 2011, the lower one is 4 months later in Dec 2011. As you can see there is a huge difference in hair count. The lighting is slightly different to the first pic, though i tried to recreate it to be as identical as possible.

Also, in the first image i had freshly been coloured to a dark brown, in the 2nd pic you can see the warmer natural tone in my hair. This is real before and after pics, not any of those pictures of 2 different people portraying one persons hairline.

I tried to sharpen the image as it was a bit blurred, but did not want to alter anything out of proportion so that true results can be seen.

Simple caffeine shampoo.

Forget using the likes of Alpecin caffeine shampoo's and conditioners. At £10.00 ($14.95) a bottle you can make your very own shampoo to use at home.

1 x 250ml Plain and mild shampoo (Baby shampoo is great for this)
4 x Heaped Tablespoons of Strong instant Coffee.
1 x Chopstick

Mix the coffee with a little hot water, usually 4 tablespoons of hot water for 4 tablespoons of heaped instant coffee. Mix it up good and proper, it should be watery but still a little thick (Think consistency of thin gravy)

Take top off of shampoo bottle and empty 2 caps of shampoo out. Place coffee mixture in to bottle, and using chopstick stir it in until it is fully dissolved. Put lid back on and give it a really hard shaking.

Leave it in the bottle to settle and mix for at least 24 hours before use.

You really only want to use this shampoo twice a week, that's all it takes. Now i am not saying that this is a cure for hair-loss, but its what i use alongside my little routine and i feel it helps to speed up the growth rate of my hair slightly. Basically it helps speed up the thickening of the hair that's growing in which can only be a good thing right.

There are variations of this recipe, you could use green bean coffee, espresso, freshly ground and brewed, or even give "Rocket fuel" coffee a go with its added guarana.

Getting to the root of it.

Welcome back to the next part. This may sound scary, it may cause you to panic, but this is what i believe to have brought my hairline back down to where it should be. Its a fantastic little gadget called a dermaroller.

The dermaroller is a small device that looks similar to a tiny paint roller, only its covered in 196 micro needles similar to those of a diabetic needle to get a blood sugar sample. These are inexpensive to buy nowadays, from as little as $5.00 (£4.00) on ebay, and perfect for the task at hand.

The science believes that used alone without any meds for hairloss can give amazing results, however, i combine the use of it with my minoxidil product. Its pretty simple, not painful, maybe a little uncomfortable, and well worth doing.

Heres a guide of what i do. It takes me 10 Minutes from start to end and i only need do it 2 times a week. Since starting this over a year ago, my peach fuzz is real thick hair again. It took literally 6 weeks for it to fill in at the temples, so i believe this is what done it for me.

1) Take your dermaroller and gently apply very light pressure as you place it on to the hairline area you wish to target.

2) gently roll up and down 10 times on the same spot, then move along covering the entire hairline.

3) Next go side to side over the same area, you should hear a strange pop/crunch as your rolling, your aim is to get as many micro holes in the area as possible without bleeding, if you bleed you have gone too deep.

4) apply your minoxidil solution to the area and gently massage in to the area you just rolled.

5) Place some minoxidil into a dish or jar and place roller in to solution. Then remove and gently roll over with 5 rolls to each treated area.

6) Leave solution to absorb and dry on the scalp, clean roller and store away for next time.

7) Thats it, your done. As you have got the product deeper in to the scalp and closer to the root it will work miracles. Its best to only do it the once on the days of deep rolling minoxidil into the follicals.

There is a treatment popular across Thailand, China, Japan and other areas of Asia where they literally inject the minoxidil solution under the scalp in tiny amounts all over balding/balded areas. My Auntie runs a clinic in Bangkok where they perform this and they have seen hugely amazing results.

Last time i went out there i asked her about the dermaroller process i was doing, and she said in effect its identical to what they perform at the clinic only they inject direct. The second Dip and roll is the same as doing injection of it to the roots.

If you do it right and regular you will see amazing results. Obviously don't use any more minox than recommended. I have never had any adverse effects doing this, however we are all different, so do a small test beforehand to check you are ok with it.

I still swaer to this day that by getting it deeper in and closer to the root it has supercharged my hair and bought my hairline back to life.

Minoxidil - Go Generic

When it comes to preventing further hair loss, minoxidil is one of the front runners. There are so many brands to choose from, some cost a small fortune, others are well within anyones budget. But is there really a difference between them?

I have personally been using minoxidil for the last 14 months and have had some amazing results with it. I started off with Regain/Rogain foam and was on it for 2 months before switching brands. Now it wasnt anything against the actual product that made me switch, it was the price of it.

After the 2 months i switched over to Kirklands signature 5% minoxidil, now im not sure if it was to do with using kirklands or not, but my results really started to take off by month 3. It was a little different to begin as it was a liquid and not a foam, it also made me itch for the first 2 weeks, after which i guess i just adjusted to it and the itching went away.

If you look on the back of any minoxidil product, so long as it lists Minox on the back, its going to do exactly the same as the more expensive brands, if not better.

So rather than spend a fortune on the expensive products, you could get 6 months of minox for the cost of one bottle of the expensive branded stuff......bonus.

Minoxidil states it only works on the vertex (the top back of the head) however i am not thinning there and have never used it there, one bottle of kirklands lasts me 2 months for the Hairline.....and yes, its working on my hairline like a charm. Admittedly i do something alongside applying the kirklands and i still think its this that has brought the amazing results on my hairline, this is covered in the next part.

For those of you who are serious about restoring your hairline past that peach fuzz stage i recommend you read on, it involves getting the product to penetrate deeper once or twice a week, but it supercharges the growth.

With so many methods promising to reverse the balding process, it has become a minefield on the internet. From weird and wacky lotions and potions, to magic pills promising to give you your hair back in weeks. Taking hair from one place and plonking it in another to injections of chemicals under the scalp to bring back those fading little hairs left on top of your head.

At 29 years old, my hairline has decided it is going to go for a wander further up my head (may i just mention that its waited a full 10 years longer than it did for my dear old dad). Now, its not too bad at the moment, and i have been trying out methods over the last 16 months that seem to have gotten it back to where it was when i was 18 yrs old.

Im going to detail everything i have done here, with pictures, videos, step by step guides etc, and theres also going to be a forum where you can share your stories, methods or just update us all if the tricks i post up on here work or not for you.

Im not trying to sell any products or programs, im not after your money, all i want is for a little of your time to try the methods out and see how it goes for you. I am sick of people trying to rip me off and take my hard earned money off of me in exchange for those heavenly miracle pills that consist of chalk and vitamin C, I dont want to pay to read how one person promises me a full head of hair again. In fact, i got so bored with all the scams and lie's i decided i would dedicate my own little corner of the internet to the subject....and not ask for a penny :)
